OurPact's Family Locator is a Premium & Premium+ feature that allows you to remotely monitor your child's device locations, receive alerts when your children enter or leave specified Places, and see the device's location history.
How to Set Up OurPact's Family Locator:
- Log in to your OurPact Premium/Premium+ parent app.
- Navigate to the child profile you want to monitor.
- Tap the Locator tile underneath your child’s Access Box on your dashboard, or tap the Locator icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Toggle on the Family Locator in the top right-hand corner.
Then, on your CHILD's device, ensure:
- OurPact Jr. is installed (and open/running in the background).
- The battery is charged (devices running in 'Low Power Mode' will temporarily turn off location reporting to conserve battery).
-
Location Permissions for OurPact Jr. are enabled to Always.
- iOS Child Devices: Open iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Ensure Location Services are Toggled ON> OurPact Jr. > Always (Location will not report if this permission is set to 'While Using the App').
- Android Child Devices: Open Settings > Location > App Permission > OurPact Jr. > Allow All The Time.
How to Create a Place in OurPact:
- Open Family Locator.
-
Tap the Place icon
at the top right of the map.
- If you have shared your location with OurPact, the Place geofence will center around your current location.
-
Name the Place and confirm the address in the address bar, or enter your desired address.
- If you have allowed OurPact access to your Contacts, you can also search by Contact name or phone number.
- If necessary, drag and drop the black circle on the Place fence to adjust the geofence size.
- Tap on Advanced.
- Select the child profile(s) you want to receive this Place alert for.
- Tap on 'Entering' and 'Leaving' alerts to set as preferred. By default, both options will be enabled.
- Tap Save.
You can also create a Place by tapping the Settings icon. Go to Places, and then tap the
in the top right corner.
By default, Location History will be turned on when Family Locator is enabled. If you do not want to use the Location History feature, tap the Setting icon and toggle OFF Show Location History.
Important Points:
- Enabling Screen Time Allowance alongside Family Locator improves the reliability of location reporting.
- Location permissions can be adjusted within iOS child device settings. If location is not reporting for iOS child devices, please check the device Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Ensure Location Services are Toggled ON > OurPact Jr. > Always
- Issues with location reporting can be expected if:
- Location permissions are not enabled/set to 'Always' on child devices
- OurPact Jr. is not installed or closed
- Your child's device is offline
- Your child's device is running in Low Power Mode
